Frequently Asked Questions

Some commonly asked questions from our prospective tennants

UniResort is a unique setting where over 300 people from all over the world come together to live, study and experience the best of Brisbane. Often, our residents do not know many people here and are entering a new country, new city, new university or school, and new accommodation all at the same time without knowing anyone – it’s a lot to take in. As such we have taken a pro-active approach to doing whatever we can to make your assimilation into Brisbane life as easy as possible.

Make sure you join the UniResort Social Club to take advantage of our UR Events team tasked with running regular events to ensure an opportunity to mingle and meet your fellow tenants, as well as experience community life in Mt Gravatt. There will be plenty of events from BBQ’s to Pool Parties as well as community and charity initiatives to give a bit back. In addition to this UniResort is in the process of putting together a UniResort membership card that gives you benefits and discounts at surrounding restaurants and shops. We will also be facilitating other events from time to time as demand presents such as group fitness classes, dancing classes, walking or riding groups, etc. Life is here to live!

We aim to make UniResort a thriving community that facilitates students getting the most out of life! If the friendly UniResort staff can assist in any other capacity please just ask.

Yes, of course you can. We have dedicated inspection times daily during the week. The times are as follows:

Monday - Saturday from 12pm - 3pm.

Just call administration and we can arrange for a suitable time.

If these times are not suitable, we are happy to show you through the complex at another time that is convenient for you but please call our office on 3457 5588 to make an appointment.

It doesn’t hurt to let us know if you will be attending one of our standard inspection times also.

Yes, if you wish to pay your rent upfront and avoid the hassle of regular payments UniResort will give you a discount on your overall contract price.

Please check with UniResort management for current prepayment pricing.

Garden City also has a public transport interchange with buses going from Garden City to many locations throughout Brisbane.

You can connect to the internet as soon as you have checked in at Reception. You will be given your username and password, with a easy to follow instruction guide for setting up the internet. UniResort has wifi throughout the complex. The Internet is capped at 200gb per month per person.

Our internet service provider is easily available to assist with any problems you may experience.

After you have received an email confirming your approval you need to pay 2 weeks rent within 7 days (ask UniResort staff about the great savings you can make by pre-paying your lease. We require ongoing rent payments to be made every fortnight (if you are not electing to utilise the pre-pay option). Direct Debit Authorisation forms (bank or credit card) are available to facilitate more convenient rent processing.

Upon Check-in you will need to pay equivalent of 4 weeks rent to reception, and this money will be held as your bond (see below for more information).

UniResort is very focused on ensuring everyone that stays at the resort is safe and secure. The resort is fully enclosed with security gates and a CCTV system. We also have a ‘live-in’ security person you can contact for any afterhours matters and to ensure there are no problems.

Having said that Mt Gravatt and Brisbane is quite a safe city to live in so this should not be a concern.

Rent is to be paid via direct debit of your bank account or direct credit of your credit card. Rent is paid fortnightly in advance. If you don’t have an Australian bank account you can pay by credit card at reception.

If you are wishing to make lump sum (6 or 12 month) prepayments EFT directly to UniResort’s bank account are acceptable – please ask reception for more details on this. No cash is accepted at reception. Bonds are sent directly to the RTA.

Act straight away to ensure you don’t miss out – we generally have very high occupancy levels so it is important to get in early.  If your application is successful you will have 48 hours make your initial deposit. During this time a room will be held for you.

If these amounts have not been paid within 48 hours you can no longer be guaranteed an apartment.

We understand that situations sometimes occur that you aren’t able to stay till the end of your lease and we do offer flexibility here. Let us know as soon as you can if you can not stay the length of your lease so that we can start looking for someone to take over your apartment. The break of lease fee is equal to two weeks rent. In addition, you are required to keep paying the lease until there is someone else to move in to your apartment.

Of course, if you can find someone to take over your lease straight away, you only need to pay the one weeks break lease fee.

Also, you should be aware if you are entering a long term lease that has discounts applied these discounts will be reversed if you break early.

A rental bond is money that the tenant pays at the beginning of a tenancy which the lessor can claim if the tenant owes money for rent, damages, or other costs at the end of the tenancy. It is not rent in advance.

Bond is lodged with the state government authority, and assuming you look after everything it will be refunded to you when you leave. This is a standard requirement for rental accommodation in Brisbane.

For any emergency situations please dial reception on +61 7 3457 5588. After hours this will diver to our contracted after hours answering service that can deal with emergency situations or our on-site security person.
