Do you have to be a student to live at UniResort?
Absolutely not. Although UniResort is predominately student accommodation, we do accept non-students as well. Due to the style of accommodation, it is highly likely that you will be sharing with students. You must be over 18 to live at UniResort.
Do you have inspections?
Yes, we have inspections daily during the working week. The times are as follows:

Monday - Friday at 12 noon and Saturday at 10am.

We suggest calling us before you visit, to ensure that an inspection will be proceeding.
Who lives at UniResort?
UniResort accommodates students and non-students from Australia and around the world. Due to the accommodation being for predominately students, we do not accept children and families. UniResort also has an onsite manager.
I have a car. How much is car parking?
UniResort provide under cover secure car parking for free. You must register your car with the Office.
Can couples share a room?
Couples may share all room types excluding a standard room. In the case of two people sharing a room, rent is an additional $55 per week. For couples sharing one room, both persons must be on the lease.
Can I make a special request to share with my friends?
Yes you can. If we have the availability we will try to accommodate your request however we cannot guarantee we can do this.
Can I change rooms after I've moved in if I really want to?
Yes, however a room move charge applies. The AU$100 fee covers the administration involved. There is also a cleaning fee applied if necessary.
What are the hidden costs?
There are no hidden costs at UniResort. The rent includes:
- Electricity
- Hot Water
- Foxtel subscription TV in your room
- Broadband up to 4GB a month
- Private ensuite
- Share laundry in apartment
- Share kitchen, lounge, dining and patio/balcony in apartment
- Use of UniResort leisure facilities - pool, spas, gym, sauna room, steam room, tennis court, barbecues and meditation hut
- Under-cover car parking
What does rent not include?
- Once off broadband connection fee of AU$40
- Linen
- Crockery
- Extra cleaning - this service is available on request
- Departure clean
- LAN cables
What do I need to buy before moving in?
- Linen - you can purchase attractive 'Pillow Talk' linen packs from UniResort for $100
- Crockery - orders can be made directly with Coastal Kitchenware
- LAN cables - you can buy this from UniResort Office
How do I set up an account for the telephone in my room?
Come to the Office and pre-pay some money into your telephone account. We can activate your phone straight away. There is no connection fee. Top up your credit at the Office to keep your phone activated.
How does the internet account work?
Once the AU$40 connection fee is paid, you can connect up. You will need a LAN cable to connect to the internet. These can be purchased at the Office.
Is there extra storage outside my room?
There is no available storage outside your room. Items cannot be stored in the common area. Beds have storage underneath.
Is UniResort near transport?
With a bus stop at the front of the resort, and Garden City's major bus terminal a 5 minute walk away, public transport from UniResort is easy to access and affordable.
How does my mail get to me?
Each apartment has a mail box. Packages and parcels are delivered to the office. We will notify you that a package has arrived and you will be able to pick it up from Reception during opening hours. Your room number should be included on all your mail.
How close is the nearest shopping centre?
One of the largest shopping centres in Queensland is about 5 minutes' walking and 2 minutes' driving distance from UniResort. Everything you want is at Garden City under one roof - banks, department and discount stores, boutiques, electronics, hair and beauty, supermarket, fast food and more.
Do I have to pay for cleaning or laundry at UniResort?
All apartments at UniResort have fully equipped laundries at no extra cost. Professional cleaners are available but not compulsory. Tenants are able to make arrangements at reception for cleaners to clean their rooms at a rate of $50p/hour. Regular apartment inspections monitor household cleanliness. These are carried out monthly.
At the end of your lease a Departure Clean may be charged if your apartment and bedroom is not cleaned to a satisfactory standard.
How much money do I have to pay upfront before I move in?
After you have received your confirmation letter, you need to provide within 48 hours of acceptance:
- a rental bond which is equal to 4 weeks rent.

- You will also need to pay 2 weeks rent in advance.

- We will need your bank details to commence a direct debit of your rent.
Example: Standard room is $210 per week. The bond is $840 + two weeks rent in advance is $420
On check-in:
- Internet connection fee (once off fee) - $40

- Telephone - pre paid usage
